Main AI News:

In its pursuit to empower all employees with a “daily assistant,” SPIE ICS has rolled out an interface granting access to a versatile large language model ensuring data security. This interface enables users to analyze or generate text or code, considering attached documents. Currently, a quarter of SPIE ICS employees have utilized this “AI for all,” with 400 unique monthly users, constituting 12% of the workforce.

Moreover, approximately one hundred employees possess access to an advanced interface, affording them the choice of models, including multimodal ones, facilitating Internet searches, and generating images and diagrams.

Expanding on this initiative, SPIE ICS has conducted training sessions on generative AI for nine customers during innovation committee meetings. Presently, two of these customers are undergoing trials with its “AI for all.”

Unlocking the Potential of Generative AI

In response to the imperatives of digital transformation and enhanced performance for its clientele, SPIE ICS is now crafting “specialized business area assistants.” Many companies initially seek to integrate generative AI with their knowledge bases for consultation. These assistants rely on pre-prompting and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). SPIE ICS has successfully piloted one such assistant at a customer’s site and deployed them for two additional customers.

Generative AI: Empowering Sovereignty and Efficiency

Corporations and governmental bodies are keen on retaining control over their data, precluding its transmission to free AI platforms, which poses the risk of data exposure. Data security is paramount, shielded against extraterritorial regulations, preferably domiciled within the European Union or France. Collaborating with Mistral AI, SPIE ICS has integrated their models for in-house utilization and for one of its clients.

SPIE ICS boasts the capability to incorporate open-source “on-premise” models utilizing dedicated “Edge” infrastructure for GenAI. Furthermore, SPIE ICS closely monitors the development of inference capabilities by cloud computing operators in France, crucial for achieving sovereign end-to-end products.

Mitigating Environmental Footprint

The environmental impact of formidable language models is substantial, both in terms of energy and water consumption. Thus, selecting the appropriate model aligns with sustainability objectives.

Generative AI’s emergence marks a pivotal milestone in businesses’ digital transformation, complementing existing automation technologies like predictive AI and NLP,” remarks François Guéno, Director of Innovation and R&D at SPIE ICS.

Arthur Mensch, CEO, and co-founder of Mistral AI, expresses enthusiasm, stating, “Mistral AI is thrilled to offer its cutting-edge technologies to SPIE. Through our customizable and portable AI models, SPIE contributes to democratizing advanced AI for all developers, a mission dear to Mistral AI.”

Conclusion:

SPIE’s strategic integration of generative AI reflects a forward-looking approach to digital transformation. By embracing advanced technologies while prioritizing data sovereignty and environmental sustainability, SPIE positions itself as a leader in the evolving market landscape, catering to the growing demand for innovative solutions.
